What Bob was trying to explain is that you 'chunk' the nuber into blocks of 3 separated by commas working from right to left - hence 3,094,296. The right hand chunk obviously says two hundred and ninety six, the centre chunk is how many thousands - ninety four thousand, the left hand chunk is millions so three million. Put all that together and u get your answer. Beth :)
