A cousin has sent me a couple of old photos. The problem is she has drawn a little cross above the relative's head in blue biro. Is there any way of removing it without damaging the pic?

I use Photoshop 6.0 and Photo Deluxe to edit and restore old pictures....the ink should be easy enough to remove....if you want to forward me the pictures I'll give it a shot for you....(by forward, I mean scanned copies via e-mail.) Judy

I inherited the one and only pic of my great grandfather standng among a group of fellow workers. Unfortunately my mother had put blue biro crosses above his head and by both feet. The photo was also badly cracked. My local photographer produced a near perfect copy of it for me. I think most photography shops can do this. Cost about 7 quid I think. Dee x

There is a way of getting rid of it on the original. It has to be done under a good magnifying glass. You pick off the biro marks with a sharp needle and match the grey on the photo with an ink kit. These can be bought from any decent photography supply shop. Try Mr Cads in Croydon - they are online under that name.

Fred....they do amazing things now adays with technology so getting a duplicate may be possible. Do you know who has the original so that maybe you could get it scanned into your PC? If you scan your photo copy and send it to me I might be able to do something with it....it's different than a picture so it may not work, as far as enhancing it. If nothing else it can be burned to a CD for prosperity. Anyone wanting a copy could then just print it out. I do this will all my photos (save them on to CD) and they are incorporated into my family tree program. I handed them out at our family reunion and they were a big hit. Now everyone has all the old photos, documents and family history. I also have copies of the CD in our County Historical Society as well as the National Archives. Judy

Hi Fred, A while a go i had to get some photo's copied i took them them to my local photo shop they copied and printed them while i waited. They charged by each A4 sheet so take enough photo's to fill an A4 sheet of paper and include a small gap around each photo. Steve.
