As you lot are the oracle, I thought I'd ask if anyone has any recommendations on types of walking boots? I will be walking up lots of steps, hopefully in the dry but who knows.... and i need them to be very light but very durable as i have 8 months worth of training to do before the charity trek.....

Diana, I used to always have 2 pairs, a Hitec pair because they were more like heavy trainers and cooler in summer and a pair of leather waterproof ones too. They are expensive but well worth it. Enjoy yourself June xx

My trusty old boots came from Hawkshead, when we were in the Lake District, and they did some climbing and walking!. They also have a catalogue or online shopping plus comfy socks to put inside them!, not a blister in sight!. Happy trekking1..

any decent outdoor pursuits shop will advise you on all aspects of long distance treking ,and the decent stores won,t try to rip you off or sell you rubbish.Fred.ptfg.

I have a pair, which I think are Hi Tec, they are in my suitcase at the moment. Heavy trainer type with Vibram (trade name) soles and gortex fabric. They are only used for warm weather walking, but are very comfortable. Cost about £80. Ros
