ha ha...yeah- take em all to a desert island!!! lol Sounds like im blowing my own trumpet...but i know that my mum has brought us up well...its been tough for her shes been through some really rough times...but she has put her life into making us who we are, and she is the bestest friend i could ever wish for.... no way am i saying im perfect...cor, ive put her through hell before, especially when i was 15, but i have never dis respected her...i did runaway from home one night(when i was 15) i was naiive and believed what i was told and ran off with a boy and spent a night in the park (in the middle of November) mind you i went straight home the next day!!! xx

Yeah ive got great memories from when i was growing up (i suppose i still am really), but i dont know about transporting 'bad' people to a far away place will help any. These people are created mostly by their environments and tyhe only way to make less bad people is to change the kind of lives some are born into. Its not a matter of if we ignore it it might go away, it definately wont

Hi Lorr Sounds like you've done a grand job there. It obvoiusly wasn't easy for you. And I don't think going without things does any harm. My parents weren't that well off and spent as much as they could afford on a house away from the city were they thought we would have a better up bringing. When birthdays and xmas came around all my friends used to get fantastic presents - all the latest things (Stylaphones - remember them!). We used to get necessities like a new dressing gown or pair of jeans! lol. And Mum always made sure we were clean and presentable and there was a hot meal on the table at tea time. She always used to bake on a Friday aswell, a talent that has sadly passed me by! lol. Apart from the baking I do all of these things for my kids and hopefully they will do them for theirs. After al,l kids use us as a role model and only copy what we do Jeanette x

Why does it always have to get so serious? We start off talking about something fun and its a shame that the thread has become controversial. I thought this thread was about childhood memories, maybe not appreciated by all ages.... but give it time. My kids are 18 and 20 and love talking about when they were young, they talk about Postman Pat and Thomas the Tank Engine, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Count Duckula, etc in just the same we talk about Watch with Mother. The games they played were sometimes the same but often different, we didn't have videos or computer games, but the good old days were just as good for them as they were for us. So lets just enjoy the thread as it was intended - surely we don't have to go through life always being serious and looking for controversy. G :-)

Gee I didn't realise it had become contraversial. Ok so we went off topic a bit for a while. But back on course now with memories of Mums baking :-) Jeanette x

i remember the summer of 76 it reminds me of weymouth beach and hearing the teenagers of the day playing their radios on the beach, radio one and 10cc im not in love was the summer hit. they were calmer times not as depressing as these days i feel, i dont feel a disapproving tone that hayley feels in this thread, some kids misbehave some are wild but most of the ones i know are just kids and want some fun but its restricted by so many complaints, thats outside not on this thread. then saying that i suppose some of the kids are like some adults , think the world and his dog owe them a huge gratitude. however memories are nice of 70s 80s
