Joy Report 28 Sep 2004 21:25

Just read this on the internet:- "Muslim Mercy Team 'Believe Bigley Is Still Alive' By Caroline Gammell, PA News A delegation of British Muslims who travelled to Iraq to press for the release of hostage Ken Bigley said today they were confident the engineer was still alive. As the family of Mr Bigley desperately waited for news 13 days after his capture in Baghdad, the Muslim Council of Britain said their trip had created “tremendous goodwill on the ground”. Dr Daud Abdullah and Dr Musharraf Hussain left for Iraq on Friday and returned to the UK at 2pm today. Although some people criticised the brevity of their visit, the delegation insisted it had been a worthwhile trip. Speaking about the fate of Mr Bigley, Dr Abdullah said: “I have no proof that he is dead, as long as there is no proof I believe that he is alive. “People (in Iraq) share the view that he is alive.”

I have just seen this on the Al Jazeera website. This must surely give hope for Ken Bigley and his family. Joy "An Egyptian and two Iraqis held captive in Iraq for more than six days have been freed. Egyptian telecommunications engineer Ala Maqar was freed along with two Iraqi engineers whose identities have not yet been confirmed. Egyptian officials last week said six Egyptian workers for the Iraqi unit of Egypt-based Orascom Telecom were kidnapped in Iraq. Sources at the embassy in Baghdad said the remaining Egyptian captives would also be freed, but gave no idea as to when."

Just read on the Aljazeera website the following. I pray that Ken Bigley is still alive and well. Joy "Yasir al-Sirri, director of London's Islamic Observatory, told Aljazeera he had also been told Bigley is still alive. "The man is alive. We sent a message to al-Tawhid and al-Jihad last Thursday, and they got a message from Tajdeed al-Islami (Islamic Renovation) yesterday," he said. "We got [a] positive response from them through a middleman who said they will take into account the pleas [for releasing Bigley] from the Islamic Monitor and Islamic Renovation."

We've been praying on two other threads, and I shall do so now on this one too. God bless Ken Bigley and all his family and friends. Joy
