Hi Linda, I'll be joining the empty nest club soon, my youngest son has just told us he is moving out to take a room at a friends house, I wouldn't mind but his mate is charging twice the rent, and he won't get his ironing done there either, still you have to let them go some time or the other, he's the last of my 4 children to leave, and I know come the day, I'll shed a tear or two, I think he's father will be even worse than me LOL. Belle.

thank you everybody for your replies, we have grown so close in the last two years, that the parting has become harder, she is having a great time, pubs late nights joining the caving club and the archeology society etc, I tried to suggest that she stay at home and go the the local uni, but they do not do archeology, and the sheffield is meant to be one of the best for that subject, so I know she has to follow her destiny, Its funny even the cat comes and sits on my lap when I'm on the phone to her Thank you once again Linda P

I know how you feel Linda, my two eldest children went to work abroad this summer, one to Spain and one to France, I can't believe how quite the house is, even my youngest son is missing his sister (they don't usually get on). The upside is less washing and ironing. My daughter is coming home in three weeks and my son in five, I can't wait, but give it time they will be back to arguing and shouting at each other, and I will want all that peace back again. Sue

Not quite in the same boat.... my eldest decided that going to Uni here in our own town would be cheaper than going away so instead of wishing he was here I am running around picking up his dirty washing and wishing he had gone.... LOL

Oh Linda I do feel for you - but she will be home for weekends and holidays, it must be difficult for you, my son moved in with his Nan about half a mile away a couple of years ago (some sort of bid for freedom.... but not quite!) and I missed him terribly then.... and still do. Worse still he is moving to Denmark to live with his girlfriend in a couple months and I just don't know how I'm going to cope. I think the answer for us will be to keep busy and just be happy that they are fulfilling their dreams. :-) G xxx

when i went on holiday my mum hated it!! we nevr really spend alot of time apart, we are very close, but she said she just couldnt wait for me to get home because the place to too empty and very quiet without me around! i think sometimes she panics when she thinks about me and my bro moving out, i tend to lift her feelings when she is feeling down. she doesnt really talk to anybody else about how she is feeling but i always manage to get it out of her and try and make her feel better. She is on holiday at the moment, i was quite looking forward to having time on my own, but now i just want her back!!! Do you have any other chilren??x

Hi everyone Is anyone else in the same boat as me, I have just taken my daughter to uni in Sheffield, she seems to be coping fine, but the house seems awfully empty without her, her brother is missing her as well, even the cat seems to be wandering from room to room looking for her. I keep thinking I will have all this time to do my tree but i can't concentrate on anything. Linda P
