Maggie, I have had a lot of problems with my computer and it refuses to allow me into this lovely Man's site (he is a darling trying to help this unfortunate computer novice). I just want to ask has anyone else had any trouble getting into the site??? I feel alone with this if anyone has had problems and sorted it out I would love to know what they did to rectify it. Thanks Pat x

Ican get in to he site but do not find it easy when I get there, I haven't managed to chat with anyone yet so I can't comment on that. I must contact Colin, I must be doing something wrong. June

I tried to join when it started but couldn't even register my name although I have my tree on tribalpages and legacy as well so I dont really want to put my tree on there, it takes too long to add new people to three trees as it is. jenny x

I would love to view this site, but it only allows me to log in, and then directs me to subscription, then cant accept my details! Frustrating or what????

Russell

Russell Report 26 Sep 2004 09:35

Hello Jenny and Anne, Colin is offering a 7 day free trial at the moment. If you want to message me with your email addresses, I will pass them on to Colin who will be able to help register and log on etc.. As you probably know, Colin is very helpful and knows a lot about computers (unlike myself!). Russell TYFH Moderator

Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 26 Sep 2004 09:49

Seems to be up the spout at the moment. Also, I have been waiting for a response to a 'contact us' query for days now. Have earlier this morning put a 2nd 'chaser' message on, now I can't get in at all. Although I do look in at Colin's site, I will always go to GC first - I feel very at home here, part of the family. In any 'club' or group of people (all very different with different lives and opinions) there will be arguments and disagreements - that's just how life is and this site reflects that! Maz. XX

I like the idea of more sites, but I automatically sign on to GC/R everyday, then try the others if there is trouble

And for more good sites, including this one - please look at the useful websites list compiled by Deb on the tips board. It's a long list! Joy

*ღ*Dee in Bexleyheath*ღ* Report 26 Sep 2004 12:10

I'm with you there Maz. But the thing that upsets me most is that all those lovely people who used to be on here seem to have completely deserted GC for the "other site". We had such a good bunch on here this time last year...names that I knew and loved! It makes me really sad that this has happened. Dee :-(

Russell

Russell Report 26 Sep 2004 14:03

Dee, I do not think that most people who are members of Colin's site have deserted this site - I think they have just kept a lower profile. GC is probably still the best genealogy site in the UK but there is a lot more choice than there used to be so people are spread more 'thinly' between the different sites. Russell

Good luck to Colin. He helped me out some time ago. Another useful site is www.curiousfox(.)com Much more user-friendly than this one, and none of the periodic go-slows. Len
