maggiewinchester Report 27 Sep 2004 22:44

My daughter was 'lunged' at whilst walking home one evening. She thinks the moron wanted her mobile. Little did he know she does Kung Fu!! I made her report it as, although she wasn't hurt, just shocked, and she's 21, she could pass as 12!! the thought of this yob preying on 12 year olds was frightening. I was a victim of racial abuse. In the late 70's I was going out, large afro in my jet black hair, leather coat, black tights, and as it was a little cold, gloves. This lad came tearing up behind me on his bike, and shouted words to the effect of 'go back home coloured person'!! As he passed, he turned to spit, mouth poised......he fell off his bike - possibly in shock - I'm not coloured!! I went over to him and suggested he crawled back under the stone he came from, then read him the riot act and left him under his bike. That felt soooo good! maggie

The cheekyest one I have heard about was my son and his house mate...Here goes.. my son was at the pictures with a girl and his mate was out getting engaged it should have been a happy day, just before xmas last year, but when his mate got home they had been broken into, the back door had the glass smashed, the theif had taken a dog along with them, paw prints were found at the scene, when they checked their belongings, the xmas prezzies were still there, the computor was still there the tv, playstation, CD's games even the money was still there, they were wondering what had been taken when they checked closly they found that wait for it.... All of their under ware was gone (clean and dirty) also their gym clothes...What sick person could do that... needless to say the Police were totaly baffled.. you could say they were Santa that year St Nickerless!!!!!! Ooops sorry boys, but was that weird or what???

A few years ago a man attacked a friend of mine with a spade. I was there at the time and I tried to ward him off to help her and he started on me, as she had run off and left me. I had a broken nose, dislocated shoulder and a cut on my back from the spade. We had to go to court three times in all and he got off because he had already been in Broadmoor and was 'mentally' ill. I got burgled about 18 months ago, I was only out of the house for 25 minutes, but in that time they managed to wreck my daughters bedroom, ransack mine and my eldest sons, and took everything they could carry from the sitting room. The worse bit though was they took my jewellery box which contained jewellery which was left to me by nan and great aunt, 2 of the rings were over 100 years old, I was gutted and still am, I thought I hid the box well, but obviously not well enough. Also in the box was the wrist bands from when my children were born and other bits and pieces which had sentimenal value. I phoned the police and tried to tell them what had happened but they stopped me and asked me if anyone had a grudge against me, I was amazed, don't you want my name and address I asked, oh we'll get to that later. They did absolutely nothing. Sorry i've gone on a bit, but I still get angry. Sue

i agree, police are most of the time no help at all!! we have had to call them out so many times at home, where we have been threatened with samuri swords, fights have broken out, our drug dealing neighbourds are smashing stuff up, and we have had bikes stolen and attempted breakins (yeah i live in the ghetto!!! lol) and each time they have been called out they have been useless, bar one time though, when i had to call them due to domestic violence, they were great and really took care of me and mum, even called an ambulance although we were ok. My bro is a copper (met police) has been for nearly a year...he loves his job and is a great copper, but i must say, there are not alot like him, and the system is crap!!!xx

Poolie Girl

Poolie Girl Report 27 Sep 2004 07:44

On a lighter note.... My young daughter had a hamster which died. She insisted I perform a funeral service so Spammy was ensconced in a silk lined margarine tub, along with a poem written by my daughter and a bonio (Spammy's fave snack). The ceremony went well and the tub was buried in the front garden and covered with some crocus bulbs. A few years passed and weather took its toll. The edge of the tub became visible. One day I returned home to find a hole in the flowerbed where the tub had been neatly lifted out. I assume the culprit thought I kept a spare key in it. I just wish I could have seen their face when they opened it to reveal the true contents.!!! Beth :)

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 27 Sep 2004 00:49

About ten years ago when I was financially and emotionally at rock bottom, someone vandalised my ancient car so effectively that it was undriveable. The police would not let me arrange for it to be repaired until they had taken fingerprints ...that took four days. At the time I worked in a restaurant which meant very long hours, no public transport for me, so I spent the next FIVE WEEKS walking to work at 9 am and walking home from work at 1 am in the morning. No car also meant I could not go home in the afternoon for my three hour break. My Insurance only offered a courtesy car if your car was stolen, not vandalised! The Garage and the Insurance company squabbled for five weeks before I finally got my car back, and as the Garage Manager handed me my keys he wagged his finger at me and said "Now, dont do it again!" I wont repeat what I said. To the vandals Id like to ask: what did you want with my clapped-out old car? There were plenty of other, better cars than mine in the car park that day if you wanted to joyride. I dont suppose for one minute you thought or cared of the misery and inconvenience you caused me. And no, I never heard another word from the Police.

The little thief who came round the back, to try and break in came unstuck, by the security light, I came downstairs to see him outside crouching in the corner trying to get out of the range of the light. I was frightened but I don't know what came over me, I just glared at him and hollared "GET OUT"!.. he scarpered, but for a few days I didn't feel safe leaving the house empty. Reported it to Police and neighbourhood watch, but nothing more was heard.

Following on from Christina's thread. How many of you have been victims of crime? What happened? Was justice served or did they get off scott free, as seems to be the way these days?
