I've had this happen sporadically and intermittently. Sometimes it's that the image that's supposed to be loaded doens't exist I think - ie a fault on the site. Other times it must be a performance issue... the file fails to load, but if you right click and select load image (or whatever the syntax is) then it loads fine. Odd though.

Diane, What happens if you RIGHT click on the box? you should get a response" show images" click ok, and you should get the picture.......some times i get them, instead of the tree " joining lines" then it fills in the lines...

Diane: There are a few changes in your settings that may need to be changed....which changed if you loaded SP2 Service Pack or some other upgrade (I say some other as I'm not sure which upgrade added options but I think it's SP2.) Change the following and see if this helps: 1. Click on START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS. 4. A box appears with labeled tabs, click on the ADAVANCED tab. 5. Scroll down to the subheading MULTIMEDIA and make sure that everything under this subheading has a check mark in front of it EXCEPT "Show Image Download Placeholders." This one does not need a check mark in front of it. 6. Scroll further down to the subheading SECURITY and make sure the following have check marks next to them: - Allow Active content from CDs to run on my computer. - Allow active content to run in files on my computer. - Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid. - Empty temporary internet Files when borwser is closed. - Use TLS 1.0 7. Click APPLY and then Click OK. Fingers crossed, that fixes it for you! Judy

It also happens on 1837 if you haven't downloaded the viewer, can't remember what it's called (sorry bit poorly today!), something like Deja Vu. I found this out a couple of months ago when I had to do a system restore and then couldn't use 1837 where I'd been using it fine before. I did the download and hey presto! bob was my uncle. Mandy-trying-to-:))

Hi Diane, The bits with red crosses in aren't essential to have - but it's like having a present and being told that you can't unwrap it - really winds you up! lol Magsx

Hello Diane, I think Mags is probably right. I've noticed as well that, for example, when I'm downloading my bank statement online, I have the option to save it as a "whole" HTML, or as a "single" one only. The difference is that saving the whole version involves downloading a directory of support files. The effect is that when I'm offline and want to look at this saved file, the whole version gives me the complete "picture" I saw online, while the single HTML gives me the essential info, but doesn't include all the pretty piccie bits (eg the bank logo etc). Instead, where the logo would be, there's a box with a red cross in it. Hope this makes sense and helps a bit! Philip

The images have been blocked in case they have viruses etc.attached - just for your security. I think my husband got over this by 'allowing' the images makers through Norton Fire Wall. If you haven't had a more sensible answer by the time he gets home from work - I'll ask him exactly what you have to do to get the pictures back lol Magsx
