My hubby shared a flat with mates for several years before we got married, so I never even took her baby away!! They remembered my birthday this year, but forgot it was my 40th (and I am the only daughter-in-law, shouldn't be difficult!), then they remembered our wedding anniversary but didn't realise it was our 20th - and they were the ministers who married us!!! Um, I wasn't going to add to this thread, was I? lol

Well mine live up in Stirling in Scotland and We are living Down in England but thats another bone of contention she slags off her own mother in law who actually died in 1977 and the thing she harps on about the most is that her M I L was a typical Glasgow woman and could start a fight in an empty house!! Excuse me??? I am from Glasgow as is my mother and father and grandparents etc etc.

Mine are fine. F-in-law is mad as a march hare and winds the kids up no end. He is called 'noisy grandad'. M-in-law does everything for my sis-in-law, but when she comes to ours she 'assumes the position' on the sofa and thats that! When you are alone with one, they bend your ear about the other - have to remain impartial! Still, they are great with the kids - had them for 4 days this summer - and can't really find anything bad to say about them. Pretty lucky really. Hubby would tell a different tale. He went to see the doctor (also my mum's doc) when we first got married. The doc said to him "those mother-in-law jokes are all true aren't they??" !!! Maz. XX

Our son is their only grandchild - full stop. But we live 'too far away' for them to visit us, even though we are both working and they are retired ... and they've driven to France.

She is so bloody stuck up and all for her side of the family.. as far as she is concerned father in laws family are all beneath her and hers! I dont even know why she married him if she felt he wasnt good enough. Three weeks ago one of hubbys aunts died... she was the wife of his fathers brother.... That evening on the telephone after she had waffled on for about 20 mins she mentioned a neighbour named Billy... then she said "Oh Talking about Billys, Barrys cousin William rang me today to say his mother died" I couldnt believe it!!! if anything happening to her side of the family we get a running bloddy commentary!!

Snap Mandy!!! My other half is an only child but his mother seems to favour his cousins daughter, who is actually only 5 weeks older than him. This is sooo Bloody annoying as this Cousin really isnt a nice person at all. I have to say though that as far as being a Grandmother goes she is great and my kids all love her!! My 6th (and last) child is the only one who is actually her Grandchild, the older ones are from a previous relationship but she treats all my children equally so I really cant knock her there!

MIL and FIL are pretty equal ...... !! And I don't mind if hubby sees my replies, he'd say the same thing. OK then, I'll give you a clue, hubby has always been treated second best to his sister. When he plucked up the courage a couple of years ago to ask them why, it's because sister 'interacts better with them'. What's that all about then?? And hubby is one of the nicest, happiest chappies around.

LOL... Ok... Mother in Law... (hissss spittt) Oh I dont know if I should..... I feel kinda guilty and as much as she is driving me to distraction I still wouldnt want to hurt her feelings, even though she seems to go right out of her way to hurt mine!! Father in Law by the way is a real Darling and I love him to bits!!
