As I said on the other thread, my d.in l is great, we get on very well and have the same sense of humour, only problem is she lives in M Keynes and I live in Glos so we don't see a lot of each other. We e mail frequently though and send each other lots of 'funnies'. She is a great Mum too, spends lots of time playing with her children and doing all sorts of things with them. Also she and my son are bringing them up to be well behaved and good mannered. I love her to bits. Ann Glos

Well Lisa..... I can add to this one too I'm a great daughter in law... LOL .... Just a pity my mother in law cant see it! Oh and I also bring my children up to have manners and respect for all. I may have only been a teen myself when my first child was born but I think I have done a pretty good job. He is now 18 and is at University, is liked by all and has never got himself into trouble.

Because of bad experiences, we have already said to our son that as long as he's happy, we're happy. Ok, he's only 16 at the moment, but when he settles down with someone, we hope that we will get on without any problems. If not, then we will try hard to make it work, and just accept that our beloved son is happy. Mandy :)

I have never had trouble with any of my inlaws ,mums dads daughter,or son in laws. It's only a pity that i am at war so to speak with one of my own offspring.Good relations make for harmony and i would'nt change any of mine,i suppose i have been lucky.Fred.ptfg.

I've got 3 and get on with them all, still got a m-i-l too who I get on with. My poor mum had a rotten time with her mother in law, she was always nasty to her (prob jealous, cause she took her only son away), but just before my gran died, she said to mum, you are good to me, but then you always were!!

I think I can conclusively say - daughter-in-law's - better than mother-in-laws :)

One of the nicest things my mother-in-law said to me was that I was the daughter she wished she'd had! She had two sons and I have two sons. I hope one day I will have a lovely relationship with my daughter(s)-in-law that I had with my mother-in-law. nell

I wish our son had married someone in this country so that I could slowly get to know his wife and form a bond - it is difficult at 4,000 miles - through e-mails. She hasn't 'warmed' to me yet, but son is happy which is all that matters!
