Ivy, and how to get rid of it?

I am troubled with some IVY Creeper, I have cut the Ivy off the wall, but does any one know of a reliable method of killing the roots? any suggestions will be welcome, please. Bob I dont think burning will work, in any case I dont want to kill the little creatures..............just the ivy.... |

I would have thought that Sodium Chlorate would do it. I have the same problem, but as the roots are in someone else's garden I want to kill the foliage , can't find anything to touch it so far apart from battery acid! I hate ivy, it's over-running the garden. |

Try drilling a hole in the stem near the base and pour neat weed killer in it should work |

Pour creosote over the roots ,it killed the stump of my Pampus grass and i know that is supposed to be hard to get rid of.Have just changed the spelling as brian has pointed out to me ha!ha! but i can assure you that CREOSOTE does work ,cheaper than buying all this nasty week killers Well worth a try . Val What you are looking for is "creosote". Our rhubarb used to thrive despite being regularly dosed with it when I treated the fence! |
