Hi All: Just wondering if anyone in the Peckam area remembers a store called Watney Off Licence, 171 Queens Road, Peckham SE 15. This is the information written on the back of an old photo that I found in my father's belongings after he passed away. His cousin, H.W. Hart appears to be the owner. Since I live in B.C. and no other relatives came to Canada to visit my dad or his parents when they emigrated in approx. 1911 I have little infomation about this family. Hoping someone might remember this. It's a very old picture though. Probably from the 1940s or 50s. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks Alva

Bill in Oz: Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to send a snail mail to them and see if they bought the place from this relative. Thanks again, Alva

Hi, for what it's worth Watney's was a brewery in the 60's and may have been so earlier, sorry I was too young to drink before then so I didn't notice Dave

Hi All: Thanks for the responses and encouragement. Would love to collect as much infor on the Hart family, hopefully some living still. Want to visit England some day soon but need to find out where all of the family is. The Harts were originally from Essex and I believe most are still in the area. I am the only relative on this side of the pond that seems interested in the history. My dad and his parents were the only ones to come to Canada (1911)and none of the other immediate family members came to visit. I only ever met one in the late 60s. a Will Burren, his mother was a Hart. Since my dad passed away in 2001 at 94 There might still be some out there. His mother was the 5th of 11 children so there might be some youngsters in their 80's out there!! Alva
