My daughter was always fine, but son (stressful at the best of times) would not bend to go in! You need 2 of you - one to hold trolley still and one to insert child - even if they co-operate! I used to go with my mum - she'd wheel the trolley and I'd wheel son in the buggy! Maz. XX of course its MUCH worse when you can feel everyone STARING!!!! lol

I used to find getting my son into the trolley a nightmare as he would struggle like mad. Once he was in he was fine, then I had a problem getting him out. One day he was wriggling so much that both legs went in one side and I saw a man come across to help then he stopped as if he didn't dare offer help incase I took it the wrong way. Another lady came and she held the trolley as I pulled him out. Lorrainex

I can't understand why they don't make the trolleys with little plastic seats in them with safety straps to go across the child like a highchair has. Jo.

they always say try to remeber how you felt when you were a child and you had to walk around with your mum etc, you were always bored. if they are little, take toys etc with them, so at least they have something to do, as it must be boring to just sit there, yawn, LOL, little ones, involve them, it will take longer to do your shopping, LOL, let them put tins in the trolley etc. alot of people dont explain things to there child, my mate tried an experiment with her child, she'd read it in a book, she explain to her child that they were going food shopping as they need food in as there is nothing to eat, she did this in child talk,LOL, in the car on the way to the shops she asked her child where they were going and why, he remebered some of it, she managed to do her shopping with ease, plus he managed to put the tins in the trolley ( he was 2) LOL, breakable things went in the seperate part at the front,LOL. she said it worked, he never had his usual temper tantrums etc, LOL, she said it took tiwce as long to do her shopping, but she wasnt stressed etc. so both were happy, :-) worth a try LOL :-)

Is there an art to getting a small child to sit in the front, on those supermarket trolleys?!, saw a woman this morning who I thought was going to snap her childs legs off!.. the tot was screaming the mother just kept on struggling, eventually walking off into the store, with the child standing in it!. Didn't like to offer to help in case I got my head bitten off!, but I did feel sorry for both tot and mother!..
