Elaine's right Trevor, please don't leave it at that, and tell us why you felt aggrieved, and does your family know that your not happy with the way things were portrayed. Belle.

No Trevor please don't leave it at that. What do you mean? We all take our research seriously here and if the programme is just being jazzed up then what's the point? By the way the old man driving the car, what a sweetheart, (please don't say he was an actor). elaine:))

Thanks for all your messages...If I was asked, I would say I was a little disappointed. I didn't watch it live, but taped it...... Brighton were playing at home! It was Amanda's story, and she told it well, but felt a little aggrieved at the summing up...don't mean to be bitter, but now I realise you can't always believe what you see or hear on TV....perhaps I should leave it at that. Factually it was fine, but some points are stretched, its sources/researchers take some poetic licence with the research

(copied from the other thread) Interesting again and like with last week, it would seem they are targeting the poignant element in the stories that unfurl. As I said last week, it's this story element that the Beeb appear to be concentrating on most, rather than getting caught up too much in the actual genealogy knowhow/jargon. I think they're doing the right thing, if the aim of this exercise is to get more people wanting to trace their roots. Once the interest is there then people will want to question further about where you need to look and what you need to check. You have to get people's attention first and there's little point getting bogged down in too much technical information until that point is reached.

I really enjoyed tonights programme. Really took us all on the journey. How I wish I could travel and do the same. Just watched the BBC4 programme and that too was good. Trevor, you must tell us all the latest on Cyril, what a cliffhanger!! Diane

Congratulations Trevor on your contributions to the programme. I'm sure you did a lot more work than you were given credit for. Would love to know about the Pillings connection, if one was found. Yes I thought Amanda & Karen shared a major family likeness. Helen

Just watched the programme, thought it was brilliant and very emotional, you must have put in lots of hard work Trevor, so glad that the pictures of Cyril were found even I was dying to know what he looked like, thought he was very much like his mother. You'll have to tell us if you find a link with the St. Ledger horserace. Facinating stuff. Belle.

Trevor, You look soooo like my brother! Amanda and her Liverpool cousin are very alike as well. New Ross-- that is where my mum and her family come from so I was very interested in that part. This week was so much better than last week but in Bill Oddie's defence, I think he had something to sort for himself as regards his mother rather than looking for family. Jacky :-)

Trevor, just wondered if you got to see the programme before it went out and what the family opinion was on the finished article. Was everyone and everything portrayed in the way you would have wanted? And of course, have you found Cyril's birth yet? Maz XX

Hi Trevor After watching last weeks and being abit disappointed I didnt know what to expect for this weeks, but what can I say except really moving - sat in tears for the majority of it. The story was really sad and it was so lovely that Cyrils daughter in the end found family that she didnt know anything about. Well done with your research. Karen

Brilliant Trevor, Tonights episode shows how families can be torn apart, and how it can be too late for half siblings, some parents have a lot to answer for,and will never realise the heartache they leave behind. The questions will for some always remain unanswered. Tonight for me,well worth watching. regards trish.
