Following on from the Ebay thread, what mad things have you got? Back in 1999 I paid 50 British pennies for a tin of 20th Century air. Me thinks an heirloom for the future. :-)

Many many years ago my friend and I decided we would spend 50p and see how many things we could buy, what we did buy had to be of little use to us--so we got a second hand Tiny Tim LP (that really will split the young from the old) a bag of rusty nails ('cos they were cheap) some buttons, can't remember what else but there would have had to be sweets-

i recently bought a bamboo plant from tescos it brings luck and good fortune apparently, my husband and son said why have you bought asparagus and put it in a plant pot? its designed like a three layered tower of small bamboo twigs with shoots coming out
