McAnne's Gahan-Crazy

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 25 Oct 2004 23:37

I have 2 cats and 2 kittens. MAX is 15yrs and was named after the Victoria Wood adverts for Maxwell House coffee (he's all black). COCO - an 8yr old dark tortie was named after Coco Chanel My kittens are cousins - LOUIE is 14 weeks old & black and white - named after his Auntie Lulu; and JAZZ is 17 weeks tortie and white - so named because her colouring is all 'jazzy'. Just had my second 'quiet' night in 3 weeks of having them - reason?? just had their second visit to the vets for vaccinations and micro-chipping. The injections make them sleepy and sore - poor things :((

I have a little Yorkie, not such an original name we called her Bonnie because she is so cute. Mum (June nr Preston) has a Yorkie called Beckham, she named him - yes you guessed it after David Beckham, I bought him for her during the last World Cup! G :-)

I have a border/rough collie bitch 4 years old called Muppet. I don't know why (I used to like the muppet show), but she fits the name perfectly. Muppet or the Mupster or even Moto, she answers. She makes a noise when she yawns just like a human. My previous dog was called Dizzy, again I don't know why, these names just come to me when I look at the pup, but again with her she fitted her name. had a cat called Tosh, now that was called after the Tv saying "hello Tosh, got a Toshiba"

Melba64 Report 18 Oct 2004 22:25

My two cats already had their names when I got them. Onyx is black, like the stone and the other one is called Sacha (don't know where that came from). My old cat was called Luka because I liked Suzanne Vega at the time and thought Luka was a pretty name. My ex called our second cat Mouse just because that is his weird sense of humour. He kept Mouse when we split up and I got Luka. She was a beautiful Abyssinian but sadly died about six months after my ex and I split. Her pedigree name was Adreysh Illithia Kariba and I believe the Kariba part came from the Lake in Zimbabwe. Her breeder had just been there for a holiday. Mel

Sam

Sam Report 18 Oct 2004 21:51

My cat started life as Daisy until a trip the vets for his shots when I was informed that Daisy was a HE. I had wanted a female cat so had no male names ready at all. I looked on the internet at a site for popular cat names and got bored halfway through the B's, hence the name Barney!! Sam

Lindy

Lindy Report 18 Oct 2004 21:09

It would take too long to explain where our "Bully" Feiha got her name from. To cut a very long story short she was hubby's 50th birthday present eight years ago. A funny misunderstanding between him and my sister (Bully was a surprise present) let to her getting the name "FEIHA," which means "ugly". A brindled lady from South Africa with a very long pedigree originating in the U:K: and hubby's "daughter". Feia, has breakfast with hubby in the morning, "her own slice of toast" and her own two pieces of bacon on a Sunday. She is nearly totally blind but loves us all unconditionally. Lindy;-))

John Report 18 Oct 2004 20:56

Tiny is our cat's name she's about nine now but when we got her she could sit in one hand, now an adult she is still small for a cat and her name suits her personality.

I have a cat that came to me aged 6 called Sophie. I usually call her Po, cos she has a po-faced expression. Also have a Rabbit and guinea pig that were 'donated' to me. They were called Edward and Tubbs after the couple on 'League of Gentlemen', I have since renamed Tubbs (the guinea pig) Widdecombe - because of her 'attractive' hair style and similarity in looks to a certain lady!! maggie

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 18 Oct 2004 15:05

Grandson here has 2 Guinea pigs. Benjamin, mostly brown named after Benjamin in a production of Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, who was in brown costume. Stuart Little from same litter is mostly white as was Stuart Little mouse in films. Stuart is female but grandson liked that name for her!

Fairy

Fairy Report 18 Oct 2004 14:29

At the moment I have a pedigree black Labrador called Nelly. We brought her back from Belgium when we returned to the UK. She's nearly five and as mad as a march hare. The reason for her being called Nelly is a long story involving other dogs tales. I also have a little tabby cat who was recued and had been badly treated. Her name is Slinks, because she's lean and mean, but nice. She came to Belgium with us and returned with Nelly. Jo.

We collected a cat through Cats Protection League just after I returned from a visit to Ireland so he ended up with the name Murphy. Would have been Guiness but he's ginger! Jacky :-)
