no i dnt think of that maybe i sould bring it up at the next agm it was a bit unfair of them i think

My son's trip next year (to France) is 300 pounds. It's been a similar amount the past two years for my daughter and my son will have another trip the following year. It's really hard to find the money and i don't want to be mean and say no and have them as the only one's in their class not to go. My daughter started secondary school this year and they sent a form to fill just for a voluntry contribution for the school - yeah right. Hopefully one day they'll appreciate the sacrifices made for them - but then again maybe not! Kxx

good news i had a word with the school today they said i can pay them so much a week as lone as it's paid for before they go

my kids simply didnt go on most trips that had to b paid for

my son went to special schools and went on loads of school trips paid for by the royal variety club but my daughter went to normal schools and had to pay, the thing is most of the children in my sons school had wealth parents. jenny x

So much money is being milked out of the system now that you just don't know where it is going,a lot of money for schools comes from road tax ,and so much from council tax ,but so much is being drained to support asylum seekers and refugees that there is'nt enough money to pay these bills and the education systems bills anymore.Add bills for the social services and we are in a lot of trouble. Newcastle education dept' now hold raffles ,bring and buy sales and whatever to help finance school projects,one school recently asked for volenteers to police a school trip because they could'nt afford to pay the teachers to do it,where will it end?Fred.ptfg.

Firstly, if this were paid for in taxes our taxes would go up considerably. Secondly, this isn't new. When I was at school I missed out on several trips cos my parents couldn't afford it. i also had to buy a lot of text books and my own paper in 6th form. Virtually every letter my children brings home is a plea for money - a charity the school is supporting/raising money for new playground equipment/photos/technical materials/outings/dictionaries/goggles for science/T-shirt for school play etc. I'd rather they said "Give us a blank cheque at the beginning of term". nell

my daughter went on her yr6 school trip last yr. She went to a place called Hooke court nr Weymouth, she went from monday morn (they didn't leave till 11.30 due to coach prob)to fri eve ( so 4 nights ) cost us £185. the twins went to cub camp dfuring the summer holidays cost us £135 BUT they went from sunday morn ( we had to be there for 9am!!!) till lunchtime saturday. So 6 nights in total!!!!! (and must admit i did get a discount as i had 2 going) Both trips had activities the whole time they was there and both trips had one outing My twins are in yr4 but am already saving for their yr6 trip!!!!Becasue the school won't give me any discount!!!! As i always treat the kids the same it's hard!!!!!! Shelli P.s we did pay the both trips in installments!!!

Have to say that this isn't a new thing - I remember the groans at home everytime I said there was a school trip, and that was a good 20 years ago. Doesn't help when you have to find the money though does it. ps. where is Yenworthy ??

My eldest Grandson is at 6th form college and has a field trip to study how IT is used in business. Well that's good!! Where? New York in February!! (£400+) 5 days. It doesn't get better as they get older! Ann Glos

maybe we should all wite to our local pm's & find out just what we are paying counicl tax for coz it dont seem to be being put in to the school's like we are told or we wouldnt have to pay for all these thing's that go on in them
