Can't think of any additional board games but why not play pass the parcel with amusing forfeits (usually involving alcohol!) scattered randomly amongst the layers of wrapping. Andy (still a bit of a student at heart)

Ramblin Rose Report 20 Oct 2004 09:23

We still love Cluedo. When it came out first we were very poor. Lots of littles and no money for extras. One of our elder twins borrowed it from a friend and made us a copy. Probably shouldn't have said that. We played with our home, made set for years Rose on the Island

A great group game is "Taboo". We have spent many hours laughing playing the game. Rummycube that someone else mentioned is good also. I don't know if you can get it in the UK, but Rummoli, a card/board game is also very good. It can be played by adults and kids. Yahtzi a dice game is great for children and adults.

I love Lexicon! It's a card game a bit like scrabble. You have to spell words. Educational and entertaining! becx

We have played Risk for years and love it,there's lots of different ways you can play, also Escape from Colditz.A good card game that can involve lots of people is Pit,it's very noisy. We like Uno as well. I've enjoyed reading about everyone's favourites as it's always good to have more games. Wendy

Rapidough - like Pictionary except you have to mould the clues out of playdough. Can be played with teams of mixed ages - no-one gets left out. My six year old nephew was ace at this! The first team to guess the clue takes a portion of dough from each of the other teams making it harder for them - if you could have seen my (slightly squiffy) brother trying to mould 'Paris' out of a piece of dough the size of a pea! lol Magsx

I used to love Frustration when I was a kid. Must admit tried to get one last year. Went to Argos tonight and they had Twister on the shelf. That used to be a great laugh, don't think I could manage it now though!! Diane

A favourite card game of our family is Uno. The adult players tend to get very excited, especially after a few drinks. Oldest grandaughter has Uno Extreme where the cards are fired at you out of a machine! We also like Pictionary, Balderdash and Word for Word, which tests your knowledge of the English language, and Scattergories. We also have a game called Tell Me, where the answer to the question has to start with a certain letter. Another favourite is Mousie Mousie which is suitable from age 4ish. Must get up into the attic and find some more before Christmas! Sue

Not sure if Payday is still going. I bought it for a few pence at a charity shop and it kept the kids enthralled a while ago. It's like a domestic version of monopoly, you get a salary and then various bills need paying, or you win some money or get a dividend. Good idea for educating the young about the financial realities, but my boys are convinced they will be able to drive Ferraris when they grow up!

Who wants to be a millionaire junior edition is the pits. Bought it for my son last year. So complicated it's a joke. My daughter loves Monopoly and now has around 6 different sets. Her and the boyfriends family love something called Payday, although I've never played that one. Diane

Apples to Apples combines a bit of luck and a bit of mind games. Suitable for children but REALLY vicious for grown ups after a few! Annie

Julie

Julie Report 18 Oct 2004 18:23

Hum-bugs is brilliant!! You are only allowed to hum the song, no whistling, lala-ing or anything like that. I laughed until the tears were rolling down my face and we had to stop for a few minutes cos we weren't getting anywhere. Julie
