help with heating UPDATE

An Olde Crone Report 21 Oct 2004 00:10

I had this very same problem and got the little man out. It was something to do with there not being enough water in the expansion tank(?), you are supposed to check this before you turn your heating on again. (God knows how, I watched him closely but couldnt work out what he did, other than fiddling about with a srewdriver) Apparently the water evaporated from mine because my roofspace gets so hot in the summer and I must be the only person in Britain who has been told to REMOVE some insulation from the loft!

Its a electrically driven valve which diverts heat from one zone, to another, depending on how the thermostat is rigged/programmed........do you have a programmer? if the centrall heating is demanding heat, then it goes there,..........if the hot water is demading heat then it goes there.............

You might have a changeover valve, which is not working...

Gerry Report 19 Oct 2004 00:42

Karen. It will prob need more than a bleed. The air lock is prob in the pipes and it can be devil to get rid of it. The inly way I know is to let lots of water out as I said. You could do it at the system bleed valve if you know where it is. Will be at lowest point, maybe outside.

Gerry Report 19 Oct 2004 00:35

Karen I would go with the airlock. Had similar prob with mine once. We undid the pipe from rad and "pulled" lots of water through to get the air out of the system. Gerry

hi little kb we did that earlier but like i said they heated for a while so we think its in the pipes .can you get stuff to unbloke the pipes? karen

badger Report 19 Oct 2004 00:32

I would say that either your pump is defective ,or ,you have a blockage somewhere in the system .the only other thing it might be is a massive airlock.Fred.Ptfg.
