Thanks everyone for replying and trying to help me. I phoned the Law Society today, and was told that this company is not trading anymore, but they would be able to contact the partners as they were still alive. All I have to do, is send a letter to the partner, via the Law Society, quoting a reference number that the Society gave me. Hopefully, I will have some luck with this. It's worth a go anyway. Thanks again to everyone Suzanne

I am sure a letter to the Law Society with your query about the firm would help - all Solicitors are registered and it is unusual for a firm to close - they are usually amalgamated with a new practise and possibly the name changed - it is worth a go and you have nothing to lose

I have come across some old letters (1970's) that were addressed to my mother (she passed away 20 yrs ago) that informed her that she had come into a little money. The last letter stated that they would send a copy of the 'family tree' but I cannot find this with the letters. I checked in Directory Inquiries for the name of Scott & Fowler who had offices in College Green, Glos & Berkeley, Glos, but nothing has come up - so I presume that this company is no longer trading. Can anyone help me - either if the company is still trading (but under a different name) or, what would of happened to ALL the information that they would accumulated, would it of been destroyed or stored somewhere? Any help in this matter would be appreciated that could point me in the correction to find this tree. Thanks in anticipation Suzanne
