thanks everyone for your help. have gone onto the web site ukdps and taken notes of what to do. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. Will have to have a long chat with myself, for some strange reason I kinda feel nervous about it now!!! Oh grow up Dawn!! But it will be in my best interests to do this. THANKS

You might find this site useful, if you're absolutely sure it's what you want to do. http://www.ukdps(.)co(.)uk My ex husband changed his by going to a solicitor and swearing a Deed Poll, he had then to go to another one to have it witnessed. It wasn't very expensive. A

At your age you can just star using a name that you have chosen, notify the relivent people ie Doctor, hospital, Socils security, etc...or if you wish make an appoint ment with a soliciter, and ask them to draw up the paper work, it doesn't cost a lot. Bev

does anyone know how to & the intricacies of changing one's surname by deed poll? Since my father disowned me 7 yrs ago I've been toying with the notion to change my surname. As I'm 47 now and probably won't ever get married, I feel I may feel better in myself & move on if I changed it to one of my other ancestors names on my mothers side, but i don't know how to go about it. Any suggestions please?
