Steedie.... as your surrogate mother i refuse to let you do it.... do you know what germs you will be allowing into your body with that thing in your mouth?

Why do you want to self mutilate?

Hi Steedie, my 17 year old daughter went off to Blackpool for the weekend , with friends a couple of weeks ago. She came back with her tongue pierced. Personally I think it's horrible. She knew I was against her having it done but I would have preferred if she was gonna get it then she should have had it done here, where we know what places have a good reputation. Her tongue was swollen for about 4 days and now she is wanting a smaller bar as apparently the first one is bigger to take into account the swellling. She said it doesn't hurt at the time but does for about a week after. Still sends shivers down my spine at the thought!! Take care and go to a reputable piercer Christine

NNoooooo, it ruins your sense of taste and can damage your teeth, don't do it, my daughter did and regretted it, sandra

I have my naval pierced.... altho no longer wear the piercing but tongues are a different issue, it's unhygenic, can damage your teeth and it's down right dangerous.... the swelling can be so bad it can cause choking....

WHY???? Personally I can see nothing in favour of having this done and hope that my (adult) daughters wouldn't even contemplate it. I do accept though they they have free choice, as you have on this and I couldn't stop them. Can you tell us why you want it done?

At least if you end up taking it out later, I don't suppose anyone will ever notice you've ever had it done. Unlike my 19yr old son who has a flesh tunnel in his ear which if he takes out in later life will still leave him with a great big hole in his lobe. How's that gonna look when he's an old man? Silly bu**er!! Christine

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 26 Oct 2004 15:47

It's our old age that makes us think WHY???? i'm with your Ma.... go for the nipple piercing and that way the whole world doesn't have to see it unless you want them too!! Says pinky poking her unpierced tongue out!! :O)

Stephanie Report 26 Oct 2004 15:48

My daughter wanted to do it but I wouldn't let her. Said she could do what she liked when she left home, but not while she was living here. Within a couple of months of her moving out she got it done, called me a little while after and it sounded like she had a cold. Asked her if she was ok and she told me. Nearly had a fit. She was lucky she didn't suffer any problems with it. I told her I didn't like it and not to show me it. Which she doesn't. At the end of the day it's up to her, but I still don't want to see it. She has her nose pierced too. Diane
