Is there other intelligent life out there somewhere? Look up at the heavens at night. I can't believe that we are the only beings around! Anybody else think that? Pauline

How does a telephone know what language to use? And when a clock stops, do you hear it actually stop? or did you hear the last time it Ticked( or tocked?)

Cameras too! How do they do that? You can actually capture a moment in time. Literally take it and put on a film or even a little computer chip. Just like that. Amazing.

Not only voices Daniel, but words and pictures (faxes) and how can you send a photo by e-mail and it arrives on the other side of the world almost instantly? I used to be a telephonist in various exchanges in south west London and telephones have always fascinated me since I was a small child. I would have liked to be a telephone engineer really, but that wasn't allowed way back then :o( Sue

Mobile Phones! What's that about? Walking round, no wires or anything!

Daniel Report 26 Oct 2004 19:05

How can a voice from one end of the country go through some wires and then come out at the other end? We take this granted. Would be called supernatural in any other era.

I'd like to know more about the reason for Stonehenge,(fascinates me!), and why my favourite battenburg cake is called that, and why is it pink and yellow squared?.. there are a lot of others, but I must wash up!..

Come to Croydon, Mandy. This summer we made rockets. They went up in the air (and how!) Last year we made hovercraft. Not what you expect in a library, but real good fun. Brenda

How does an aeroplane stay up in the sky? I know there's a technical answer, but I will never, ever understand it :))

A nature question (or few) here. How does a baby cuckoo, reared by an entirely different type of bird know it has to fly South? Does it gather with other young cuckoos or go it alone and possibly meet others on the way?

Now this is something that somebody is bound to have an answer for! - did they have black parachutes for night landings in WW2 or subsequent wars? White seems a bit of an easy colour to spot in the dark! This is a serious question honest - I've always wondered. Magsxx

I would settle for more humble things like who my g-grandfather was, my g-grandmother covered his tracks very well!!!

Have you got a question you'd like the answer to, but you'll probably never know? I'd like to know how many street lights there are in the UK.
