i dont wish to sound condescending or owt but even though i totally agree that 16 grand a minute is outrageous greed, that is their worldwide profit. we actually get charged less by BP than anywhere else in europe. its the government who whack the huge tax on it. but then i dont really blame them either, other countries get hit by tax on fuel and light, clothing, food, wages etc. south africans pay 40% of their wages straight out! but then everything else is cheaper. i think the bottom line is that somehow they'll get ya! if they dropped the petrol prices you can be sure of an increase in another area pretty damn soon after! x

As soon as we changed to litres instead of gallons,I knew we were in for another major CON. tHE PUBLIC HAVE BEEN LULLED INTO PAYING MORE AND MORE FOR LESS. When you are putting inyour petrol folks, I am the mad woman who talks to you at the pump and directs your attention to the comparison chart which show you what you are paying in OLD MEASURE. If we were being charged per gallon there would be a nation wide outcry. The Govt says it has hiked the price to discourage us from driving. 'Is your journey necessary' type of reasoning. Well yes my journey to look after my elderly and now sick 90 yr old mother is essential and I have to do the Portland mainland run 4 times a day.I cannot think of the cost of fuel.

If BP are making £1,000,000 an hour, how much is Gordon Brown taking? most of the cost of petrol is tax. Bob

Judging by how much it costs to fill up these days, is anyone surprised at how much profit they make ?
