We,ve got about Threequarters of an acre, with lots of Trees, one of which is a very Large "Ginko Biloba" with lovely Fan Shaped Leaves, lots of others including Quite a few Fruit Trees,Lots of Roses,The nicest one,I think,Is "Cardinal Richleau" it has a beautiful smell. At the moment the garden has got lots of leaves all over it,and needs sorting, but thats the price you have to pay for the enjoyment of it. Hard work,But in the summer, sitting outside with your friends and a few bottles of wine, its worth it. Hal.

it appears that most of US would love to have a beautiful garden but are not able or willing to make the effort I live 1800 feet above sea level in the Med where every type of weather occurs without fail but a garden transforms even the ugliest surroundings, however it does mean lots and lots of hard work to create and to maintain the garden. Very few other activities can give you a life times pleasure I have a two acre garden which gives immence pleasure to everyone who visits my home. If any fellow members have a similar creative obsession, drop me a line DRB

Hi Ann, Our garden would be lovely if I actually went out and weeded it and cut the grass but since having our son,I find it hard to get the time.We have a front and back garden and a lovely rockery in the back garden which could be lovely(when my parents fly over to visit, they tidy it up so I know it could be great!)just having the inclination to get out and do it!

mine is not its best either, moved here exactly a year ago now, grass is too long cos my lawn mower packed up(it was 5 months old) and byt he time i got a replacement the weather had turned too bad, had two large trees (42ft high and 23 ft high removed yesterday which has left sawdust all over the wet grass and whilst there departure gives me more garden it has left a lovely view of the two delapidated old garden sheds that were hidden behind them.

Whereare you Roxanne. I am on PORTLANDas I am sure you all know by now,and usually we have a very mild Autumn and Winter I still have escalonia in bloom and the bissy lizzies now given that grand name of Impatiens are hanging on in there. It is a tiny garden but I designed it a few years ago as part of my Garden Design Course and I thought a lot about what we needed. I have a lot of shade as I can't take direct sun. Some medication I am on is sun sensative. So I can't sit out in it. IMIN Doors had a Maori grandmother and it is Coffee and Cream with the two of us n the summer. It is just time to cut back the Vines and that job takes weeks. I have a shredder, but it is still my least fav.job.Plant list; a penstemon collection,a geranium collection, jerusalem sage,4 different escalonia, bridal Veil, Laurel, Bay.ceaonothus, which I massacred and it has come back from the base just fine, Honeysuckle and two or three clematis and two tree peonies. Lots of other annual stuff. We have been through the garden wrecking dog phase. Now onto grandchildren phase,so may have to cover over pond Yes Love my Garden Rose

Same as yours Anne, beautiful..until mid morning when gale force winds hit and now everything is a mess and all broken. Two months ago we had the worst hail storm I have ever seen and it took three days for it to melt, what a mess that was..everything shredded. I'm about to give up! it doesn't help that we are on water restrictions either.

That sounds lovely, Ann. At the moment ours is very windswept. The grass is too long to leave for the winter but far too wet for a mower. Leaves off the silver birch are everywhere today with just a few left on the trees. The Michelmas daisies want cutting down and in general it needs a good tidy, - if the weather gets no worse today.

Ann At the moment it looks a bit of a mess with winter round the corner. But, like you, I love my garden especially in Spring and early Summer when the plants come out to play. Its hard work but well worth the effort.
