heather, i like rye,and pevensey, but nearby hastings,is not so nice. theres some large camp sites around pevensey,so will be busy in the summer months..the weather is nice during the summer, and both towns are quite clean...i really like camber sands, they have a pontins, but the entertainment is so good, people dont tend to leave the site much, also at camber,is a nice secluded beach area. bryan.

Sussex is lovely, even parts of Hastings Brian! Property in Brighton is fairly expensive I believe. If you like the coast consider whether some areas are too low lying and perhaps liable to flooding. On the other hand parts of Brighton and Hastings are very hilly. There are some lovely villages near the coast but I don't know enough about them to advise you.

Hi guys, thanks for your input. It is always best to get info from the people who know the area well. I was a bit concerned about the current situation in coastal areas - trying to be pc here! I would like to be in a busy little town with plenty of local activities but I have always so longed to have a sea view. I love some of the apartments in mansion type buildings in places like Brighton (too expensive), but what about Bexhill or St Leonards are they ok? However, do have a dog, so have to take that into account. Love the character of Rye. Camber I spent nearly every summer holiday as a child, remember going on the little railway there. A lot of my ancestors are from Pevensey Bay, Hailsham, Alfriston, Eastbourne, so at least I could have a good trawl at the local records offices down there.

Glad you like the name (?) We were a mob of east enders Im afraid. I remember going down to Camber and staying in a caravan where quite often 20 of our family would turn up for tea - and strangely they all used to wear suits to the seaside!! I have lived in Norfolk over 20 years now.
