Janet - my husband has been weeping for many years - he has no longer got a party he can in all honesty and good faith believe in or vote for. This from a staunch socialist.

Ann, when you say tradition versus Labour party I thought you were refering to the Labour tradition of socialist values which appear to have been lost in the past few years.

I think he's also changed, or plans to change, the opening of parliament ceremony, cos he thought it was full of 'traditional' rituals which he probably thought 'inappropriate'!

Exactly - but they also got rid of the Lord Chancellors robes as well and there are lots of others which I cannot recall but my son does - his memory is better than mine.

Tradition shouldn't be up to date though!

I don't know the point of renaming either - apparently it was thought the name Strangers Gallery not 'up-to-date'. It is not offensive has been known as such for hundreds of years - but the time and money wasted in debating this is boggling!

What's the point in that?

Latest part of history the Labour Party has done away with is to rename the 'Strangers Gallery' - this will be now the Public Gallery - will we have any traditions left or nationality at all by the time the Labour Party have finished. Worst of all they spent some hours debating this subject. Ann
