I would have thought that Norma BRAND(birth name) was later known as Norma NEAME when she married Mr MYERS.

Thanks Gwyneth - Are the names listed in the order in which she would have had them? As an example I was born Thain(my mothers maiden name) then changed to Warren when she married my father - So mine would read as Heather Thain then Warren then my married name? (Sorry if thats confusing!!) If thats the case then that rules out Neame as her mothers maiden name

Perhaps you will be able to find out when Norma married your partners father and check her surname then. We have several birth certificates where a particular registrar wrote 'late' when we might say 'previously'.

As far as I know she wasnt adopted - her father still lives with her - I'll have to check with my partner that his name is Brand. Could it be her mother's maiden name? I'm still trying to figure out what 'late' means - to me that means deceased!!

Perhaps the Neame was a stepfather whom she was adopted by?

thats what i originally thought but my partner says he thinks her and his dad married very young and she wasnt married before - but is that what the 'late' means?

We are trying to work out an entry on my Partner's birth certificate regarding his mothers name. It says Norma Myers(her name married to his dad), late Neame, formerly Brand. Brand was her maiden name. What does the 'late Neame' bit mean?? Can anyone enlighten us?!
