Hi this is an appeal for assistance from anyone who may either have a Hargest relation in their tree or from any other Hargest families. As I'm doing what is known as a One Name study, into the Hargest name and its origins. The earliest references I have seen to the name Hargest date back to at least 1435.My own interest in the Hargest name stems from my mother's line whose ancestors I've currently managed to trace to 1786 in Herefordshire and Powys in Wales. My primary aim for doing this study is to hopefully, to be able to eventually create a greater Hargest family tree. From which all the current Hargest families worldwide would stem from.So far I have indexed all the registered Hargest's births in England and Wales at the General Record Office since 1837 to the year 2000.I am currently transcribing every Hargest marriage and death from 1837 to 1900,as I have already completed the years 1900 to 2003.To be as accurate as far as possible, I'm cross referencing all the individual entries. From the earliest useful census's starting with the 1841 census right up to the last available one in 1901.I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone who may have a connection prior to 1912.As before 1912 its not possible to cross reference a marriage spouse easily, without having to purchase lots of marriage certificates. Taking on a project of this magnitude, is not an easy task.So if you can offer any help I would be grateful and at the same time I maybe be able to help you. Kind regards Adam To find out more about the Guild of One-Name Studies See here http://www(.)one-name(.)org

Hi Adam I should try putting this on the tips board as well. The more that see it the more likely you are to find someone. Chrissie
