Oh help, please....where do I go online to see who was living at a certain residence in 1878? I have a marriage cert for Ambrose Harvey Freeman and Susan Hill "Ambrose Harvey Feeman and Susan Hill were lawfully married according to the rite of the Catholic Church on the 15th August, 1878 in the presence of Thomas Beldham and Ann Hill." "Ambrose Harvey Freeman, age 'full', bachelor, A S Corps. Residence: Royall Barracks. Father's name: Ambrose Harvey Freeman, Victmaller (?) Susan Hill, age 'minor', spinster, no profession. Residence: 47 Marlboro St. Father's name: William Hill, Laborer. Married in the presence of: Thomas Beldhum and Annie Hill." "Marriage solemnized at the Roman Catholic Chapel of The Cathedral Marlboro St in the Registrar's District of Number 1 in the Union of North Dublin, county of the City of Dublin." 1. anyone know what a Victmaller was? 2. I want to find out who Annie Hill was. Sister? Aunt? |

Kirsten I don't think there is anywhere online. Probably there would be a street directory of the period, or the electoral register and I think these would be in the Dublin national archives. Look on the homepage on this website and scroll down to Genealogy Resources. There's a section there on Tracing Irish Roots. nell |

Kirsten, most of my witnesses were brothers or sisters (or friends). Only once did the father witness. The witnesses (in my cases) were about the same ages as the marrying couples. |

Thank you for your replies! I can't believe how fast you all were! I can't find in my records WHERE right now, but I was under the assumption there was/is a Dublin in England somewhere. Am I totally off my rocker? |

Kirsten: I tried a google search for Cathedral and Marlboro and one of the replies was: The Liturgy of Welcome for the Dublin Diocese’s new Coadjutor Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will take place in St Mary's, Pro-Cathedral, Marlboro St, Dublin 1, on Saturday 30th August at 3pm. Dublin is the capital of Eire (Irish Republic). Northern Ireland capital is Belfast. Dublin is beautiful. The Guinness is fab. nell |
