Hi Paul, my dog's a 5 stone bull terrier, who's afraid of nothing. EXCEPT SMALL DOGS!! Shouting, fireworks, motorbikes? No problem. Jack Russells, pekinese and other midget sized animals.... TERRIFIED. Imagine walking her down the street and her whining and straining at the leash to cross the road away from the smallest Yorkie in the country. My own fault I suppose for treating her like a baby.

The bloke I used to work for had a HUGE Alsatian that was terrified of big bangs. Ron was taking him for a walk when the inevitable happened and the dog pelted for home with Ron (only a little chap) hanging on for dear life! In the end he managed to tie him to a lampost while he got his breath back saying 'Drag that home you b***er!' lol Magsx

Same problem here with Bobby. Given up taking him out after 5 in the afternoon now as he is terrified of the fireworks. Took him out this morning about 10 when some idiot let off a really loud one..............the poor dog nearly strangled himself on the lead trying to get home. Though lucky he was on the lead as otherwise he would have just darted off, and the roads are rather busy at this time.

Paul, My dog is the same as yours and hates fireworks with a passion. He sits and shakes like a jelly and wont eat. Even when the noise has died down (usually around midnight) Its not a walk I take him for it's a drag.......bottom firmly anchored onto the floor, and that before we are even out of the front door. If when we are out if he hears a firework even a long way off,he's off home, lead fully extended not stopping for anything. He is even the same with a thunder storm. This must have rubbed off with our cat as well as he has taken to coming in at the first sign of a BANG. If people feel the need to light fireworks then they should keep it to the night they were intended for 5th Nov so our poor pets and some folk dont have to suffer at the hands of mindless people who think everyone loves them by letting them off willy nilly......what are they trying to prove ...that they have money to burn lynn

Are you sure that she wasn't just sulking Paul because you had dragged her away from the girls??? Chrissie

Poor Lucy, she just cowered in the corner all night, wouldn't play, wouldn't eat... and everytime we thought things had died down enough to take her out for a walk, it started again just as we got outside.

Took the dog out for a walk yesterday evening, before the fireworks kicked off (I hoped) as she's been petrified all weekend (there have been LOTS around us both evenings). As we're walking home a few fireworks were let off, and the dog as fretting, so I took her off the lead at the bottom of the street so that she could run home (the door was on the latch and she can let herself in (clever dog !)). However... I was horrified to see her race up to one of the neighbours open car door and jump into the back with the two girls sat there !! Thankfully they thought it was funny, and we coaxed her out and got her home. Can't take her anywhere !!
