Hello Clare. I have spotted your 'moan' and just received a very positive response and apology from Steve Pankhurst regarding my Thread gathering complaints together, I have taken the liberty of asking him to establish a way of identifying paid /non paid members which will hopefully reduce the frustrations you mention. Hope you don't mind, but it's a case of striking while the iron is hot. Cheers JIM

So are you saying that you can put your tree on here if you are not a member, but you cannot get in touch with someone if you have not paid...in that case I don't think you should be able to put a tree on here without first paying as it gives people false hope .............

I reply to every email i get and print the reply off just in case and i am very carefull who i allow to see my tree unless i have had some reply from them Margaret

incidentally this isn't just this site. I sent a contact (3rd cousin once removed ") a mail about 6 weeks ago and only got a reply today... and I'm still waiting for a response from my 1st cousin in Canada that she promosed me nearly a year ago !

Hi Clare I've had quite a few replies to my emails and have meet up with 2 people through the site. But you can guarentee that the one you would most like a reply from because it seems a really good connection, never replies. Don't give up! Jayne

Some do. Some don't - I then check with the GR site admin to make sure they are registered to do so, try again in hope then. I always answer. Joy

I reply to EVERY mail, even if it's only to say, sorry, not related. In most cases I never get an acknowledgement. Stick with it though. Incidentally, I'm a Smith too, where is your family from ?

Sorry just ranting a bit, really really frustrating, especially as a couple looked promising!

I had a guy reply to me after a YEAR. I mailed him several times, getting really angry cos he couldnt be bothered to reply. The other day a mail arrived from him, saying sorry for the dalay, work commitments ect had been in the way & he haddnt been on site! (or checked his mailbox it seems.) We swapped info and im now sorry I thought so badly of him in the first place. Dont give up. Most peeps will reply. Some dont but hey ho, for £7;50 a year its not so bad. Elaine x

i know the feeling, contacted someone who definately has a link to us ( she put my g.grandfathers full address up here !!) and no reply.... annoying isn't it ?? andrea

At times i dont see the point of this iste. I have contacted a few people to see if there is a link with our trees and not one of them have replied! So what is the point!
