Trouble is, when planes collide with probably 400+ people involved you can't call it minor. These people have a knack of understating things.

The two planes, one thought to be a Boeing 737, are understood to have hit each other on the runway near Terminal One. A Greater Manchester Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received reports that there had been a minor collision between two planes on the runway. "We believe that the wings of the two planes may have clipped. "At this time there are no reports of any casualties or fatalities but we have five vehicles at the scene ready to treat any casualties."

No radar on the ground me thinks, only in the air. They rely on visual confirmation and schedules.

PLANES COLLIDE AT MANCHESTER AIRPORT Two planes have collided at Manchester Airport, it has been reported. Initial reports say there were no casualties sustained in the crash. The passengers from both planes were removed and emergency crews were at the scene attempting to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
