I heard it said as " Married, but not Churched"( living in sin)

Does anyone remember hearing this expression. When a woman had a baby and went to visit anyone (including family) the lady of the house would ask her if she had been churched. If you hadn't they would not allow you into their house, it was considered BAD LUCK. Apparently you would go to church and ask God to forgive you for the sin you had commited. I think you had to lie down on the church floor. Maybe this was something that only happened in the Midlands. I certainly remember my grandma using it but my husband does not believe me. ANYONE ELSE ON HERE HEARD OF IT? Pat
