sad isn't it when the great stars die? Also really sad to hear that he lived to a wonderful age then had to die of cancer, rotten disease! I loved his voice, such a big personality too, saw 7B for 7B about 6 times, (at the cinema) one of my favourites. Ann Glos

Saw him twice in concert and he was in his mid to late seventies then and his voice was so powerful. Fantastic concerts.

Utterly fanciable, yes he certainly was. Sorry to read that he died of cancer. Joy

I saw him live on stage at the Talk of the Town in London over 20 years ago. I wondered what an actor was going to do live" but he was brilliant, so natural, pleasant and funny and had a better voice than in his films. He still looked good too. Rest in Peace Howard Chrissie

Anything you can do - he could do better. (When it came to singing anyway). He was THE male star of the Hollywood musical in post-war years. Don't forget he was also a fine actor long before Dallas. He played the lead role in "Day of the Triffids" and many other straight roles in films in the 50's and 60's. His voice will live on in his films and recordings. Bye Howard............ 8m8

I hope all the cattle are standing like statues for him.

7B for 7B was apparently his favourite too. I associate him most with Oklahoma! (The exclamation mark is part of the title, I wasn't shouting.)
