Thank you, Hazel - very kind of you. :-) Joy [ Anglican; married to Christopher who has been ordained in the United Reformed Church; and employed by the Salvation Army - how's that for a good mixture?! :-) ]

The Watchtower is a Jehovah's Witness publication - though I prefer Jimi Hendrix' version. The Sally army's mag is "The War Cry". For more info: http://www.salvationarmy.org.uk/en/home.htm nell

Yes I think the Salvation do a lot of good work. I know they help the homeless. They have done so for a very long time. They take people in who may have alcohol or other problems and cannot find shelter or homes in other establishments. I always contribute to their collections when I see them. I am glad they arent in the red and hope they can continue with good works. Margaret

Well Joy, that explains a lot. You always come across as a fair minded and lovely person!! The Salvation Army bring so much comfort and love to those in trouble . My Dad remembers them on stations etc during WW11 and my Mum said they comforted those left behind on platforms after waving sweethearts away to war.

... as an employee of the SA, have to say that rumour is not true. :-) Joy

Don't know if it's true, but the rumour I have heard is that they kick the homeless out of their shelters if they won't convert to Christianity....

I heard this morning that the Salvation Army is £10.000.000.00. in the red. When you think of all the good they do and have done in the past,I think its a disgrace when there is all that money lying idle in the Lottery Fund. What do others think of this?. Hal.
