I joined Genes Reunited 25th Octber 04. Since then I have contacted 8 people re. 3 different surnames, and requested to view 8 trees. To date I have received only 5 replies and 2 permissions to view trees. One of these posters had only herself in her tree, and I feel some people are not entering in to the spirit of the site. What do other members feel about this situation? Chris

SOME PEOPLE MAY NOT STILL BE MEMBERS OF THE SITE, OR MAY HAVE CHANGED THEIR EMAIL ADDY'S.

5 out of 8 replies is quite good for this site, the other 3 might not be around their computers, or if they are not members they cannot reply. Perhaps you should email the 3 and put your email address in. And also not all people like to give permission to view trees until a positive connection is there.

It's an ongoing issue Chris. Don't be disheartened. There are lots of very friendly and helpful people on the site but being as large a site as it is there are lots of different people with lots of different reasons for using it. Some just don't want to participate, and they can't be forced into it. Still others just don't check their email very often, or even forget that they registered on the site in the first place! It's a strange world. :-)

Chris, Perhaps the people you have not heard from are unsure of your credentials. If, for example, you asked me for permission to view my tree, and your name was not familiar to me, I would probably decline. How you would convince me that your interest was genuine I have to say I don't know; haven't experienced that situation to date. One can't be too careful can one...what with all the wierdo's about (not that there are any on GC!!!). LOL Keep at it, though. Brian, ;-o
