Can't help really apart from adding that I think the actress and presenter on tv jENNY hANDLEY WAS related to Jimmy. In the fifties my parents used to take us to a surviving stage show called TWINKLE,it used to come to the Theatre Royal Bath and was full of variety Acts.I suppose we must have just caught the end of an era. I can remember songs like 'Soldiers of the Queen' all very patriotic. You get brilliant pieces of info on this site.fascinated by the Theatrical Museums. Rose

Yes Blackhorse Road still there. All very busy these days - a far cry from the early 20th century when it was fields and farms all around here. Now it is blocks of flats, council estates and takeaways! If you e-mail me with the 2 addresses I can have a look for you. Really recommend the Vestry House Museum though - they are very helpful. You can contact them on-line or by phone. Google it and have a look at their website. Maz. XX

You could contact the Vestry House Museum in Walthamstow - they have a huge amount of local history information. In case you didn't know, Coleridge Road is still there, but there has been some redevelopment, so dunno if no. 17 exists still. It is about 5 mins drive from me! Maz. XX

Hi Nicole, Don't know if Handley is your maiden name or married name, but - may be just coincidence of course - did you know that there was a man named Tommy Handley who was a comedian on the radio in the mid-1940's? Around about 1945/46 he was the main character in a radio comedy called ITMA. ITMA was short for It's That Man Again. Since your query is about music hall performers I just wondered if there was a connection...he would certainly have appeared in music halls in those days. Given you something else to think about? Good luck, Brian ;-)

Searching for information on my paternal grandmother. Her given name was Phoebe ELizabeth Hoy, later Fox. She was born around 1892 and died around 1925, possibly of leukaemia. She was resident at 17 Coleridge Road WALTHAMSTOW in 1917 when my father George was born and her husband was George Alexander Fox. She also had a daughter. I understand that she may have had the stage name Lily... but cant be sure of that. She suffered from tinitus and was partial to gin. Any ideas or information would be good. Thanks Nicole
