I just found your reply and thought I would have a quick look on 1837 to see if I could find the birth reference for you but kept getting blank screens. I have rung 1837 and after following their various instructions I am still getting blank screens so they are going to phone back. Apparently they have been doing some work on the site this morning and think this may be the cause. I will have another look when the problem is corrected if you would like me to. Chrissie

Progress - Uncle Fred died October 1977 age 58 Lincolnshire making his DOB c1919 so maybe whilst in the Royal Engineers no doubt during the last War is when the 'bed' came into being. I search on and thank you again for your encouragement.

Howard thank you for your reply, yes I had thought of Patents Office but I wanted to be more sure before I got in touch with them although I have no reason to doubt my information source and wondered if Uncle Fred had help patent it whilst in the Army (Engineers). Howard I did a reply previous to this for you but obviously sent it 'wrong' new to this, sorry.

Thank you all so much for replying I don't know if Uncle Fred was the person on the TV programme as I say it has only just come to light I am so grateful for your responses. I have searched 1837 must do so again. I don't feel half so lonely when I read this site thank you.

I thought so too - wasn't there a program about him once on the TV? Chrissie x

I am no expert Mary but until one replies - I think that unless you are sure about the year (give or take one year) and know which Records office his birth was registered at you may have to trawl through 1837 looking for possible births. Once you have found the details you can send for his birth certificate in several ways - by phone - on the web - and by post. If this doesn't help feel free to shout up again. Chrissie x

Anyone help please. My Uncle Frederick Carr was awarded a Citation for helping to design a bed for burns victims. Fred was in the Army Engineers during the 50's I am having great difficulty in tracing him even though I have traced other family members he was born c1917+ Lincolnshire and the citation news only came to light recently with no other info about him, would greatly appreciate any help. This site and its members are unbelievably knowledgable, fingers crossed and thank you.
