I said they should live in a confined space. Not the way it is now. You've always got that issue of whether the person may be innocent. In the past, innocent people have been executed wrongly. What happens then? (I actually agree with the death penalty, but I am thinking about the other side of the argument)

Daniel They don't live in a confined space, some of the worst murderers live a life of luxury. 3 decent meals a day,Carpets in their cells.Tv/Video. They don't have hard labour nowadays/sewing mail bags. The only deterrent is to bring back Hanging. I know people will not agree with this and say that there were as many murders even when there was hanging but maybe they should see what it does to the victims(person that has been murdered)family. Bring back the Death Penalty. Why should taxpayers keep the bas...ds. We have other priorities for our money.

Some may say that suicide would be the easy way out for them. Having to live with what they have done in a confined space for the rest of their lives may be a more fitting punishment?

I agree with you Robert that if a woman kills her husband or anybody when "It's that time of the month" she should go through the justice system and if found guilty should serve her sentence. people that commit suicide are saving thousands of pounds of the tax payers money because no court case and they would not commit suicide if they were not guilty of the crime. Not defending anything that has been done, but please don't try to defend women who kill thier husbands because it was the "wrong time of the month". It really gets me annoyed that women want the law just to work for them. Bob

It is murderers that kill themselves in prison that annoy me the most - they've cheated the system: Fred West, Harold Shipman etc.

It is so difficult to find the words which really express how I feel about this. I think life should mean LIFE.I have worked in HMP Service and sometimes I could not even allow myself to think about some of the people I had to deal with on a daily basis. For some crimes I think the death penalty should be brought back. But then someone has to carry that out and apparently the executioners themselves suffer traumas in later life. t is a real dilema.I think the emphasis should shift fromthe Rights of the perpetrator to the RIGHTS of the VICTIMS. We are far too soft in this country and ordinary people feel let down by the law.The trust in it to protect us and punish those who have committed crime, has been eroded. Very Concerned Rose

He is be lucky he has still got a life. His poor victims haven't and just think what the parents/grandparents are suffering. And more than likely he will be out in 10/15yrs. Don't forget he will only serve a third of his sentence. And be back out to live the rest of his life. Sue
