Hi, Can anyone please help me, I have many certificates that have husband / father's jobs on them. Is there anywhere I can go to find out about these jobs - descriptions etc. hope someone can help, thanks Elise

Hiya! You will know that anything to do with Colliery is mining. Have a look at this page - don't forget to remove the brackets first!http://www(.)genuki(.)org(.)uk/big/eng/LAN/Haydock/MINEGLOS(.)txt Well, anything municipal you will know is to do with the local authority. If you google "chainman" you will see he is some sort of surveyors assistant. Hope this helps! Maz. XX

Chainman and Dataller definitely exist and gob was an area of the mine - on the website I gave. Maz. XX
