Craig

Craig Report 15 Nov 2004 21:45

After being told by the hospital that this baby had to be born TODAY, they've sent us home after five hours at hospital because they're short staffed!!! They said the baby had to come today and now we're at home. What if the baby comes tonight?? Will they have room or staff for us then? I'm sickened.

Craig Report 15 Nov 2004 22:02

well it's not our first, but I'm the one that's stressed out. Lulu's not too bad! lol you'd think it's me giving birth. It's more a confidence issue really. They told us there was no way we were coming home without this baby out, and then 4 hours later , sent us home. THEY SAID IT WAS DANGEROUS NOT TO BE INDUCED TONIGHT!! and now we're at home and MAYBE it'll be tomorrow, if there's room!

JG70 Report 15 Nov 2004 22:06

I'd be very cross too, glad that didn't happen to me. Best wishes to you and your wife - let us all know how you get on tomorrow. Jacquie

hello craig, ime sure your both fed up with the situation, and having been there myself,i do know, how your feeling. according to data, the baby is late, but this happens often, the staff have a chat about it,during shift changes, and they decided to induce, but this is not..a must do now..situation,believe me,their main interest,is the health of your wife, and the unborn child....be a little more patient, its going to happen soon, and we will all wet the babies head. best wishes....bryan.

Craig, I'm sorry you are being messed about like this, it sounds to me that it may be differences of opinion on the part of midwives/doctors. I hope baby soon makes the decision for them. Love to you and Lulu. June xx

Craig, I know how you feel, My son had to be induced. My waters broke on the morning of the petrol strike 4 years ago. The hospital said that they were short staffed so could not induce my contractions. However they would induce me within 24 hrs maximum, because of the risk of infection. They finally inuced me after 56 hours!! My son did have an infection and was put into special care because of it, Even though he was 9 and a 1/2 pound and was huge in comparison to the other babies! He was ok though, but we had to stay in hospial for 5 days. Hopefully it will happen by itself tonight anyway. Pat

Craig Not much more I can add that hasn't already been said, but... try and stay calm. You're quite right in what you say... they need to make their mind up. But I have no doubt that if they really thought there was any danger, they would have transferred you to another unit. Fingers crossed they can take you tomorrow. Good luck Paul

Oh what a disappointment for you both. After the baby is born I would write a letter to the Chief Executive of the hospital conveying your lack of confidence in them. Chin up Craig.

Oh Craig I truly sympathise, you poor things. Bendy if he was to do that they may just let them wait 'cos he has put thier back up, until labour starts etc. I'd be inclined to trust "the professionals" even though they have given you conflicting advice - one min dangerous , next it's ok to go home etc. I'd wait till babe is born ( and so hope it's today for you Craig ) and then launch into a massive attack on the admisitration management ( if you have the time after babe is born lol ) and demand a full enquiry ass to WHY it was considered less dangerous to the health of mother and babe when they are short staffed?!?!?!?! Disgraceful!! Much happiness Debi
