no, of course not, you're quite right in wanting to know why he's interested in your tree. If he won't tell you which of your people he's interested in, then don't give him access.

No, you were not wrong at all. He has to have a good reason for asking. If I were you, I would ask him how he thinks that you may be connected. Joy

Hi Kylie I contacted someone with a view to a possible link nearly a year ago. He replied a few days ago saying there was no link. Then at the weekend I got a request from him to view my tree. I replied saying that if he could prove a link I would either email him back with the relevant info or give him access. Haven't heard a dicky bird since! You stick to your guns. Demand proof before letting him see your tree. Jeanette x

Hi Kylie, I am proud of every person on my family tree and would be delighted if you would look at my family tree and tell me if we are connected. Your reluctance to show yours baffles me! Regards.... this is what he wrote weird i think and yes bendy everything else is ok thank you so much for asking

I've actually had something similar recently. One person has asked three times to have acess to my tree, each time I've asked why.. eventually they told me the surnames they were interested in, I have ONE person with one of their surnames, told them brief details, and there was no match. Simple resolution. Why are some people so bloody minded ?

kylie ive had loads like that, very rude, if they cant tell you where they think is a connection, then dont bother, after having so many, ive now changed my tree on here, ive put the full surname and initial for there 1st name, year and area. Then people will have to email me with questions, then i will answer them, asking where and with whom do they think they have a link or connection, if they can prove to me where etc, then i email the info im willing to share etc, I had one woman who was very rude, then she blocked me saying to hoped she wasnt related, crazy thing is we have a very good connection, LOL, he loss as i have loads of info on the side she was looking for and i could have taken her very far back, LOL. i think alot of them are newbies and dont understand how it works on here, they'll learn. :-)

I have not yet asked anyone to let me view thier tree but if i did I would ask if it were possible to do so and show them where we had a connection, I wouldnt demand it as some have done, I had one woman e-mail me 4 times asking to view and when it all came down to the nitty gritty, only one of my names were a 'possibilty' to her,,

Found you Kylie glad you got on ok at the doctors at least they know and they can monitor you, you were dead right in asking questions about why some one would want to look at your family tree. Love Debs.

I have been asked by a number of people if they can view my tree. I always answer that I help many people on GC with their searches and that the only people on my tree are (surnames I have posted). I know that they think I have a connection in my tree to their search but I don't. I do respond to everyone accordingly and I think that is polite to do so.
