McAnne's Gahan-Crazy

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 16 Nov 2004 17:53

Try this website:- www(.)mpsonline(.)org(.)uk It's the Mail Preference Service - you will also see a link to TPS - Telephone Preference Service - both designed to combat exactly all of these nuisances. I registered with TPS, take about 28 days to have full effect, but I havent had a single unsolicited phone call since :)) Now I can eat my tea and watch tv without constantly being disturbed by cold callers .............. PS. There's even FPS for faxes!!

I have reported this one to the Police. Their advice is that if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't.

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 16 Nov 2004 17:11

My green wheelie bin is filled to the brim with junk mail every week. I' getting my revenge on some of them who are silly enough to send me a prepaid envelope. I do the same. Fill it with junk and send it back. Childish I know, but it makes me feel good. Our poor posties are lugging more junk mail around than post these days. More profitable I hear. I like having the local newspapers but even they are getting filled with the stuff. How many rain forests are left on this planet? Capital One I don't mind as I keep the pen and send them the junk too.

My husband was phoned to say he had won a phone. He said "ok send it to me". "Oh no is not as easy as that" "If I have won a phone send it to me " This went on till they got fed up and hung up. Everytime they rang he said the same thing. "Send it to me". This went on for a few weeks. Different people calling sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. He found it quite amusing. I dont know why they thought he needed a new phone. The one they were calling was working quite well! Shirley

Hi all, Yesterday I had a phone call to say I had definitely won £20,000. I was supposed to phone the number above. Needless to say I didn't until I had checked. Today I overheard a woman waiting at the Hospital for a blood test say she had been told she had won £5,000. She phoned the number and was kept talking for some time. It turns out she was phoning someone in Portugal at a high rate. Just another Scam. Be warned everyone. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH. Jim
