This is terrible news but I'm afraid this is probably what is to be expected from now on. I would advise everyone to get out.

Just read on Reuters news - Arabic television station Al Jazeera has said it will not air a video showing a hooded gunman killing a woman, believed to be British-Iraqi hostage Margaret Hassan. "We will not air the tape because we respect the audience's feelings," said an Al Jazeera official, whose channel earlier announced it had received a tape of the killing. "We can not be certain that the woman is Margaret Hassan," he added on Tuesday. Al Jazeera said the video showed a gunman killing a woman, believed to be Hassan. "It shows a hooded person pointing a pistol at the head of a blindfolded woman before shooting her," Jihad Ballout, the channel's spokesman, said. Unlike some of the previous tapes of hostages in Iraq, no flags or banners appeared in the video to identify Hassan's unknown kidnappers, Ballout said. The British embassy in Baghdad confirmed that a video tape had surfaced appearing to show her being killed and that it was probably genuine. My heartfelt sympathies to Mrs Hassan's husband and all her family. Joy

I think that Al Jazeera staff couldn't be certain who was in the video and they have been showing it to the British government staff. Joy

Very sad. But how come Al Jazeera gets all these tapes and can't or won't give a lead to where they come from?

I pray that the following is not true, but fear it may be. I am convinced this is not done by ordinary Iraqi people like you and me. Joy BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Margaret Hassan, a British aid worker kidnapped in Baghdad a month ago, has probably been killed, her Iraqi husband and British diplomats say, after viewing a video apparently showing her being shot. "I have been told that there is a video of Margaret which appears to show her murder," Tahsin Hassan told Reuters in Baghdad on Tuesday, adding he was not entirely sure of its authenticity. "There is a tape that appears to show Margaret's murder," an official at the British embassy in Baghdad told Reuters, adding that it was "probably genuine". Al Jazeera television said it had received a video tape which appeared to show a gunman shooting her. Tahsin Hassan appealed to the kidnappers to return his wife's body for burial if indeed they had killed her. "I want to know if she is alive or dead. If she's dead I want to know where she is so I can bury her in peace," he said, stressing her dedication to her adoptive land. "Margaret lived with me for more than 30 years in Iraq and dedicated her life to serving the Iraqi people."
