Don't get yourself so upset Debs ,it's a pretty routine op these days ,and i'm sure mum will be fine .Besides ,it looks as though she is in good company ,as at least three of us will be getting the op done the same day,me ,im more worried about being without my puter for a week than anything else. We will be adding both the other people to our prayers as well .Dont you dare feel guilty for not being there in person for your mum,i have relatives that live within 200'50 miles of Newcastle ,but i won't see any of them, you on the other hand wish you could be over here giving your love and support, and believe me Debs ,i would settle for that.fred ptfg.XX

Hi Debs, hope your Mum is OK. Am sure she understands. I know how you feel, my Mum has just been through chemo and a blood transfusion and she's near London and I'm in Yorkshire. Just think how wonderful the hug will be when you finally see your mum! I'm seeing my mum on Thursday and I can't wait. Jack xx

The doctors have said all has gone to plan, I'm going to see her on weds, my mum wont let me go before then as she doesnt want me to get upset. I've only a couple of weeks to go before I have a baby so i do understand in some ways if you get my drift.!! Hope its not too long for your mum, my gran had a heart attack 6 weeks ago yesterday and has been in hospital since then waiting for this op. Liz

Sweetheart, I have just been through so much with My Mum.Have you tried the embassy. They may have a way of granting you a speedy pass for travel on compassionate grounds. Get in touch with someone famous,Richard Branson for example.good publicity to support you and fly you out to be with your Mum.Go for it.Good Luck Rose

Phone the British Consul closest to you and explain to them. My motherinlaw was dying and my husband was allowed to go even without a passport(both Canadian and British were outdated.) He was gone in 24 hours. It's worth a try because they may be able to negociate with Canadian authorities too. The Consul even kept me up to date as to where he was in transit as there was a breakdown during his flight.

Joan and Rosemary many thanks for your concern my mum did not go in this morning (earlier message from me) so I have a bit of time, I should get my card in 10 days so it looks like every thing is going to be ok, the only problem seems to be is the surgeon said I should come over 2 weeks after she has it because of catching any thing on the plane and passing it on I never gave that thought so I am just playing it by ear at the moment and Rosemary you are in my prayers keep strong. Love Debs.

Hi Debs I travelled to Bristol from Ontario without Permanent Residency Card, for my return journey I had to go get a temporary residency card from Canadian Embassy in London. It cost 20 pounds and I just had to show my British passport and Canadian Immigrant Landing paperwork as ID, and I also had to get 2 passport photo's. Downside was that I had to wait for about 2 hours to get it. My husbands father who also lives in Ontario, has just returned from England, he has lived in Ontario for 17 years and has no passport (British passport out of date and no Canadian passport) he sister was very ill and in hospital, he contacted British Embassy in Ottawa and they arranged all of his documents for him. He is now back in Ontario after spending 3 weeks in England, and his sister is now at home. So do not dispair, just contact the British Emabassy in Ottawa or the nearest one to you, if your card does not come through. Amanda P. in Ontario.
