Been off the boards most of this evening because a contact (non GR) has just e-mailed me to say that a rellie was a witness at a marriage in SHANGHAI in 1862! He was a master mariner of whom I knew very little save that he died in Calcutta. Now I know at least that he took his wife with him on his voyages and kept in touch with his cousins.
