I'm half-way through Brick Lane by Monica Ali at the moment - its very good. Have got The Catcher in the Rye lined up next - never read it, trying to read some more 'classics' that I have never read. I love LOTR and have read it probably 5 times! Am also a HUGE Stephen King fan and have all his stuff. My favourite is the Stand, which I have probably read about 10 times! Deb - those Bachman Books are excellent - you should make the effort to read them! I am lucky enough to work in a library and have to be VERY strict with myself or I would just bring the whole lot home! Other books I have recently read which I would recommend are ... Lovely Bones, Life of Pi, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Maz. XX

I am an avid reader-mostly through the night.I read anything and everything.Currently reading 'Who Murdered Chaucer'by Terry Jones. It is pure speculation but he puts forward a pretty good political reason for Chaucer's disappearance. I like obscure reading 'The tzars Madman' by jaan Kross, 'Who Killed Tutankhamen, and a similar book about the death of the Pope. But I have recently read a series of books written about SAS training and fields of involvement-It was stunning, literally and I learned a lot from it. We have writers in the family and naturally have to read the copies we are sent.'Prospero's Wireless in a fascinating account about the development of Radio and the founding of the BBC.It is written by my cousin ,about his father Peter Eckersley and the work he did in the early radio experiments. Then my F-I-L- HAS written about his great grandfather Douglas Freshfield a 19th C explorer,in his book The tramps Wallet. I rampage through crime novels, just to get through the night and enjoy the Sue Grafton books. They are well written and I like her style. I will add some more books to my list of must haves. I too cannot get rid of books and have a house lined with book shelves. We are sorted and catalogued by subject so that we can find anything. Bookworm Rose

I notice it was on the NY Times best seller list for ages... very interesting: two stories in one... BUT nothing beats a good crime...Have you read "Requiem for Moses" Aussie Pam

Deb, I'd be the same. My husband moans when we go out shopping. I can't pass a book shop and could happily spend the day in there. I also don't like to get rid of books, especially the kids ones. Christine

By the way my ambitionis to work in a library! I work in a school, so maybe one day I will land a library assistants job. But then again they wouldn't get much work out of me

Fred, I just can not part with a book. I still have all my books from when I was a child. I have all my kids books too. I will lend them to people but I want them back. Maybe I should see someone about this! Wow I would love to get my hands on your book.

Hi Fred, I too liked Stephen King. I haven't read any of his books in ages. I have just checked my bookshelf, and I have a copy of Kings "The Bachman Books" a collection of four of his early novels. I haven't read it yet, and looking at what is written inside "Xmas 1986 - To Deb - Love Glenda and Darren" I think that it is time to dust it off!

I'm just on page 15! but it looks to be the begining of a good book. I'll let you know what I think as I get more into it. It must be good, as I am sitting at the computer online and reading at the same time. Talented or what!?

Hi Deb I couldn't put it down when I read it. Apparently it's been bringing people to Edinburgh in droves after they've read it. (You'll find out why at the end) See they are making a movie of it and are talking about Tom Hanks starring in it. At the moment I've just finished Martina Cole's The Know. Christine

Hi Fred, I tried to read "The Lord of The Rings" a couple of years ago. I got 3/4 of the way through it and gave up. I found it boring. I like a good mystery myself.

I have just started "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown. Can't comment on it, as I'm not that far into it.
