You can't possibly come to England and not go to South and North Devon. The most beautiful and interesting part of the country. Of course you do realise that everyone is going to say that you must go to their favourite part of the country. I think you'll need at least 2 months:)))) Chrissie

G'day Paul. Yes, we have freinds here in Oz, that have told us something about a place called the "Scar Caves?" and how it is the longest cave in the County ( Over 300 feet ) I think? and it's surposedly not to far from IngIeton. Is that right. Cheers. Tony Oz

hi tony, whats wrong with the north west???????????? liverpool is slowly getting there, the restored warehouse albert dock are well worth a visit, maritime museum, tate gallery, art galleries. further north the coastline formby/southport, sandhills, pinewoods, red squirrels, golf courses, further north again, the lake district, my favourite place for fell walking (we are older than you!!!!) love staying hawkeshead. also leeds city, vibrant, cosmopolitan, great restaurants. hate to admit this as we live over the border in lancashire - wars of the roses and all that. i could go on and on. glenys

Travel Inns/ Travel Lodges are two of the motel companies, there are various others attached to service stations on the motorways. We have stayed in T Inns and T Lodge and they are a reasonable standard. You pay for room only but there is always a cafe/ restaurant or bar serving food nearby. They probably have web sites. I haven't checked. I have just put 'motels UK' into my search engines and it brought up loads. Ann glos

You don't mention the Highlands, OK so it rains a lot, but the air is like champagne and the scenery is out of ths world. Are you travelling by car? Hoseasons do lodges all over the country at reasonable cost, have a look on their web site.

Being an Ozzie, an not knowing any good Motel's,Hotel's or places to stay while visiting, can anyone suggest places to stay at reasonable prices. Does the U.K have Caravan parks? Will be visiting, CORNWALL, ESSEX, YORKSHIRE, DURHAM, LONDON. Any tips would be greatful. Tony Oz. ps. We are in our 50s, so not particulary interested in backpackers.
